This
was one of the very first new places that I discovered when coming back to
Scotland. It's near where Cooper's Auntie Sheena lives, and is very
near to the foundations Tappoch Broch which was the most southern
broch in the whole of Scotland. The castle was built in 1566 and was
mostly occupied by the Forrester Clan.
There is an old Roman road that is a lot older than the castle which runs
right past it.
This is what the castle looks like when the sun is starting to set
behind it. Here is a close-up of a couple of the windows in the castle This is what is left of Tappoch
Broch. It is pretty much just the foundations and some of
the doorways, as you can see from the picture below. The Broch was
originally built sometime before 100AD. Sometimes we've heard it
called Torwood Broch. Cooper feels that this should be a protected historic area with some
proper refurbishment done. At the moment it just seems to lie there
and people can come up here and do what they want with it.
