Once we got our place fixed out and tidied up, we went out and tried to
learn what had happened in the rest of the world. Since we didn't have
any TV or Internet we hadn't seen any news and were anxious to get an idea
how the rest of the county had faired. Below are some of the pics we
took on our travels, Cooper, Angus and Gizmo came along for the ride as I
think they were missing their weekend out at the State Parks, but they were
closed at 9am on the Monday morning and didn't open for a while.

These are all the air conditioning units you need when you are running a
business that sells fresh meat.

This gas station nearby got hit badly. We saw a few scenes like this,
but the few who were open and were selling gas were complete crowded, with
lines going back right down the street.

Some of the businesses we passed will take a long time to recover, this
warehouse got completely flattened. I just hope there was no one
inside when this happened.

Once we went down further south to Fort Meade and Bowling Green, you could
see that these areas got a lot worse hit. The national guard were out
in numbers protecting business from looting and trying to get people to the
disaster recovery services.

Near Arcadia on Hwy 17 we saw this large distribution center which was half
built. We saw parts of the building materials and insulation and
roofing for miles and miles.
